Long Island Camry Hybrid may have a new hybrid friend

The Gulf of Mexico is crying out for justice. If you’ve been completely blind to the news, BP is causing a colossal environmental disaster in the large body of water to our southeast, pouring black tar into the delicate ecosystem that surrounds a large chunk of our country. The problem stems from a lack of corporate concern by BP, and we’re the ones who are going to have to fix the damages. The liability built into BP’s arrangement is ridiculous; the company should fund the entirety of this ecological disaster. Lucky for us, Long Island Camry hybrid drivers are among those who are trying to make the world a better place through reduced reliance on oil and disinterested companies like BP.
And this isn’t new territory for Toyota, either. Ever since the launch of the Toyota Prius, the Japanese manufacturer has led the way in fuel efficient technology and eco-friendly driving. Long Island Toyota Avalon dealers have long been praised for their attention to technology the automotive industry was slow to adopt until the Prius burst onto the scene and the economy destroyed car sales. And yes, even Toyota has had its share of problems with corporate responsibility, but in the long run, the automaker has done more for the industry than you can imagine. And Long Island Camry hybrid drivers will be glad to hear that Toyota is going a step further with the release of the FT-CH concept car, announced at the North American International in Detroit.
The FT-CH will be a welcome improvement in the evolution of engine technology and a huge part of Toyota’s strategy for introducing plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles in 2012, and hydrogen fuel cell hybrid vehicles in 2015. This is pretty important new for Long Island Toyota Avalon dealers, who will be on the cutting-edge of the next generation of eco-friendly and cost-effective engine technology. The “CH” stands for compact hybrid, and comparisons to the midsize class Prius have been labeled the best. For Long Island Camry hybrid dealers, the game is about to change. Lucky for them, they’re on the right team. The new concept car is targeted at city driving, with Toyota calling it “nimble, responsive and maneuverable.” Since it’s still in concept format, we may have to wait a little while to find out for ourselves.
“Within the next 10 to 20 years, we will not only reach peak oil, we will enter a period where demand for all liquid fuels will exceed supply,” said Jim Lentz, TMS president. “A century after the invention of the automobile, we must re-invent it with powertrains that significantly reduce or eliminate the use of conventional petroleum fuels. One of many alternatives is through what is commonly called the electrification of the automobile. By far, the single most successful example of this has been the gas-electric hybrid.”
Sounds pretty exciting to me and probably to the rest of the driving market. Long Island Camry hybrid drivers will have to wait and see for themselves.
